Who should be the NC SPIN Tar Heel of the Year?

In our final program of the year we name a person as the NC SPIN Tar Heel of the Year. Tell us who you think should win this award and why (in 150 words or less). The only criteria is that the winner must either have been born in North Carolina, lived much of his/her life here or be a current resident.
Last year’s winner was former UNC President Erskine Bowles.

Here's WHY:
No political experience yet WON the Lt. Gov Seat (the 2nd highest official in the state) with nothing but GRASSROOTS support from 'WE the People'.
He traveled to EACH of the 100 Counties here in NC and met w/ folks. He LISTENED to them too.

Dan Forest? Never been elected to anything before. Never initiated any policy or passed any law. Claim to fame being the son of a Congresswoman.
We can hope he keeps listening to the people when he hears that they don't like his extremist policies.
And apparently he only listened to members of the Tea party.

The "People" of North Carolina just elected, last month even, Dan Forest. Seems the "People" heard his "extremist" policies, and liked them.

Dan proved that grassroots can still win in North Carolina and had the best grassroots campaign I have every seen. He traveled to each of the 100 counties at least once and talked the folks.It was good to see someone who still believe that the citizens matter.

Dan Forest....
He went out and met the people, won their confidence and therefore won the office of Lt Governor. He did it the old fashioned way....he got out and worked his butt off and so did the countless number of conservatives in his grass roots campaign.

He put the stump back in stump jumping politics. Travelling to every county and meeting with the people to perform solidly and win the office of Lt Governor....he did it the old fashioned way by getting out and earning the vote....not by buying them.
