True cost of HS diploma in NC is $150,000; no correlation between spending and results

A new study released yesterday by the Civitas Institute evaluates government education spending and academic results across all local school districts in NC. A few key findings from the study include:

  • The statewide average total cost to taxpayer to produce each high school graduate is about $150,000. This factors in the expenses of educating children who end of dropping out. The figure does not include capital expenses, federal school lunch programs, debt service or transportation costs. Adding these costs can typically increase per pupil spending by up to 25 percent
  • Hyde County has the highest cost per diploma at $266,831, while Randolph County has the lowest per pupil costs to graduate at $114,129. Why the massive discrepancy?
  • More spending does not equal higher levels of academic results. When comparing the 20 highest spending districts with the 20 lowest spending districts, it is actually the 20 lowest spending districts that show better results

Check out the study and see where your school district ranks.

Norm Kelly says:

The study results SEEM to indicate that spending and results are not directly related. And in many cases, not even close.

Just like EVERY other issue that libs/demons/socialists whine & complain about, money is always their first answer. With government monopoly schools, more spending is their ONLY answer. And let's face it, libs/demons/socialists do an AWFUL lot of whining about not SPENDING enough. Every issue they whine & complain about, and they whine about all of them, comes down to a lack of funds. Even the ebola issue is being related to virtually non-existent budget cuts.

Next time you hear a lib whine, which is bound to happen before you finish reading my response, ask them just one simple question: how much is enough? They will be stumped; completely incapable of answering you. And they will find a way to blame Republicans or conservatives (TEA people) for refusing to spend more on ANY given item/issue. Guess the adage about crap rolling down hill holds true for libs. The occupier constantly & consistently blames Bush for every problem created by the occupier. So it just stand to reason that every other lib will take his lead and blame either Bush or some other/any other Republican.

I wonder why it is that so many people seem so content to listen to the constant whining & complaining by the leaders in the Socialist Party of the US. At what point will even low-information types get tired of hearing that whiny voice? Or are so many of those low-information types on the government dole that they don't care about the whining, so long as they keep getting their check? That might explain some of the low-information types, being on the take, but what explains so many in the 'media' who suck down and repeat the lib line? Next time you read a whiny post from Chris, ask why it is that he believes the lib lie that money, and more government involvement in daily life, is the answer to EVERY 'problem'. When you read the next N&D editorial repeating the lib whine, ask yourself why it is that they accept the lie about socialism solving problems. At what point will even the N&D editorial board have to admit that government is NOT the solution? Studies like the one referenced by Civitas should make everyone, even libs & low-information types, ask themselves a lot of questions. Libs just won't like the answer!
