The Trump threat

President-elect Trump said two things on Meet the Press Sunday that should set off alarm bells across America: he’ll pardon the January 6 thugs and traitors “on Day One” and the members of Congress who investigated the Capitol attack “should be in jail.”
That is dictator talk.
Yet, the media treated it as just another ho-hum story. Republicans were silent. And some Democrats act like they want to pull a Rip Van Winkle: go to sleep for four years and hope that when they wake up it’s all over.
In four years, the land of the free and the home of the brave may be all over.
In 1936, President Franklin D. Roosevelt said:
“There is a mysterious cycle in human events. To some generations much is given. Of other generations much is expected. This generation of Americans has a rendezvous with destiny.”
That generation, the Greatest Generation, overcame the Depression and defeated dictators.
Today, from Baby Boomers to Gen Z, our generations have a rendezvous with destiny: the rise of a dictator on American soil and his billionaire oligarch cronies who want to overturn 250 years of freedom from tyranny.
He hasn’t even been sworn in, and they’re already seizing the levers of power.
Democrats must not sleep through this. Republicans must not stay silent.
We must stand up to them, we must fight and we must prevail.
