TP Wohlford says:
Non sequitur.
It's a far cry from banning a guest speaker, and PAYING for a guy who does nothing but engage in the worst of partisan politics.
Mind you -- in one way we have, what, an honorarium plus expenses, and another way you have full salary, tenure, benefits, retirement, and the dignity of the office. Seriously, would anyone listen to this guy if he didn't have the office, or at least formerly had other offices?
And in academia, there is a well-known bias that says, "Hey, we support and promote radials on the left, but barely tolerate conservatives that somehow manage to be hired by us." That is the issue. Not exactly covered here.
Mr. Pierce is a partisan hack, and not a very convincing one. Oh, and for the record, there is a debate on whether the King ever said such a thing.
