A few numbers to consider for opening day of the 2015 legislative session:
- 199.2: In millions of dollars, amount the General Fund is below the consensus revenue target through December, according to the Fiscal Research Division
- 6: New senators, including Sen. Michael Lee, R-New Hanover, who was appointed last year
- 16: New House members, including recent appointees
- 45: House Democrats
- 34: Senate Republicans
- 1: Unaffiliated members of General Assembly (Rep. Paul Tine)
- 443: Lobbyists registered as of Monday
- 511: Principals that employ lobbyists as of Monday
- 39: Women in General Assembly
- 23: Percentage of women in General Assembly
- 51: Percentage of women in N.C. population
- 36: Legislators with military experience
- 33: Attorneys in the General Assembly
- 110: Legislators who weren't in the General Assembly five years ago, according to the N.C. Center for Public Policy Research
- 3: Vetoes by Gov. Pat McCrory in 2013-14 session
- 2: Vetoes overridden by legislature
- 18.5: House terms served by Rep. Mickey Michaux, D-Durham, the longest-serving legislator

Everyone talks about the revenue short fall. Question for you. Does a lot more money come in to the revenue dept in the first 4 months of the year due to taxes?
