Why does UNC Chapel Hill need 115 full and part time employees in the academic support program for athletes? According to the News and Observer (7/29) these people track academic progress, tutor and include specialists in learning disabilities and time management.
And why do these employees report to the athletic program, not the academic program? Who pays their salaries? Does the ratio of athletic support employees equal the ratio of academic support personnel for the rest of student body? And how does this number compare with other state supported or private schools?
