Vicki Boyer says:
A smart, flexible workforce requires the best in public education. The question then is, how do we get that? Especially from the current NCGA.

Gene Arnold says:
Mr. Schmitt is at least honest in his perspective of two North Carolinas. He says to get an education and then move to where the jobs are. I would submit that the people living in the East could use a little help from the folks living along the I-85 corridor. Paved roads like US117, a natural gas line coming up from South Carolina, higher teacher pay in rural areas, Improved education facilities, State government facilities located in the area, and improved water supply. We were promised internet access from the Information Highway, but, the highway must have made a detour. So the suggested solution to get smart and move to where the jobs are located is senseless until people living in the low socio-economic conditions which have been compared to third world country conditions get a little economic help. I suggest the State continue building US64 with 6 lanes of traffic to Norfolk. Maybe some of the folks in Virginia will recognize the value of the East and we can secede to Virginia. Gene Arnold
