After SPIN! "Question to Becki and Howard – North Carolina started offering school vouchers to private schools for low-income parents. We’ve had a few years to see results and have two students which report different levels of success of our voucher program. Critics charge there is too little oversight and regulation while proponents say parents and students have better environments in which to succeed. What’s your assessment of North Carolina’s voucher program."

James Barrett says:

Ms Gray mis-characterizes the report about voucher schools -- they studied a hand-picked set of students who are not representative of overall success of the program. And parents choosing programs where 3/4 do not use academically-based curriculum (ie, religion substituting for science class) are being very misled about the value of this. Public money needs accountability and our voucher scheme has none.
