Norm Kelly says:
I'm trying to find the video of Cooper talking about teacher pay raises. I haven't been able to find it yet. I seem to recall that Roy said the Legislature should implement a 5% pay raise this year for teachers. Then someone told him there ALREADY WAS a 6.5% pay raise in this years budget. That's when Roy did the good liberal thing and decided that he couldn't allow Republicans to do better than him, so suddenly he changed his tune to an 8% pay raise. Since the Republicans were already 1.5% higher than Roy's desire, I guess he just decided he needed to go 1.5% higher than Republicans.
But that doesn't make sense, and if this video exists, Republicans should use it to bolster their election advertising. "Roy said we'd be doing the right thing if we gave teachers a 5% pay raise. - - - cut to Roy's video - - - Republicans had already passed a budget containing a 6.5% pay raise for teachers. So Roy changed his mind that it should be an 8% pay raise. - - - cut to Roy's new statement - - - And after we gave teachers MORE than Roy suggested, at 5%, Roy decided to veto the budget that included a pay raise. So, Roy wants no teacher pay raise for teachers while Republicans implemented it AND over-rode Roy's veto. Which is better: No Pay Raise -or- a 1.5% raise above Roy's suggestion? Time for you to decide who supports teachers more."
That should do it.
I hope someone can find the video of Roy making such a bold blunder!
