After SPIN! "John Hood and Chris Fitzsimon – When administrations nominated someone to be a federal judge the Senators from his or her home state has been allowed to block the nomination. Thomas Farr, a Raleigh attorney, has been nominated to the federal bench but there have been attempts to prevent him from getting confirmed. Fellow panelist Bob Orr wrote an op ed piece in the Charlotte Observer that we need to stop blocking judges for ideological reasons. Comment on the whole process of nominations for federal judges and the blocks."

Fitzsimon's suggestion for more transparency in the reason for a Senator to block the nomination of a federal judge is preferred. The "blue slip" should go the way of the "black ball".
