Video - 10/19/14 - Question to Chris Fitzsimon: "Former Governor Jim Hunt spoke to a Mecklenburg County education meeting recently noting that the number of teachers leaving the profession in the past four years has more than doubled. He talked about the 7 percent average pay raise given teachers but said that veteran teachers lost their longevity pay and got a mere pittance in pay hikes. What was the justification for lawmakers giving bigger pay increases to newer teachers and what is the message to teachers who have been in the classroom for many years?"
