Norm Kelly says:
The conclusion is that Republicans in both the House & Senate have more to gain than Obama does by holding their ground. The more Republicans can show that Democrats are the ones who forced the shutdown, Democrats are the ones who continue to force the shutdown, and Democrats are the ones refusing to negotiate, the more the people are WITH the Republicans.
Standing firm on principal, standing firm on the Constitution, can only bode well for the Republicans. Standing on more taxes, more spending, higher debt, more people dependent on the central planners, intruding into people's lives in every way possible, will only bode badly for the Democrats. More & more people are coming to realize that socialized medicine is turning out to be as bad as conservatives predicted before it's passage.
Posts like this one from Mr. Wrenn will do much to stir support FOR Republicans, both in the central government and here in NC. Sometimes all it takes is truthful information, salient analysis, to force people to wake up. Hopefully we haven't gotten to the tipping point yet where there are more takers voting benefits for themselves than givers who have their wealth stolen from them to support the takers.

TP Wohlford says:
To be fair and complete here -- ever House Dem has to run in 2014 too. Not to mention roughly 1/3 of those in the Senate. I thought I'd point this out to you, 'cause last poll I saw basically said, "A pox on both your houses."
That Obama turned down the deal of a lifetime -- a chance to get out of the individual mandate fiasco for a year while being able to blame the GOP, all being legal this time (the other slippages are, shall we say, debatable in legality) still puzzles me. The only thing I can figure is that this guy is anxious to prove he's got (spherical man objects) after the Syria debacle?
