Norm Kelly says:
One governments abhor and eliminate is competition. Government monopolies are good; private sector monopolies are bad. Go figure.
It's not illegal gambling when sanctioned by the state. It's lottery. It's only illegal gambling when it's run/managed by private business that actually employs people to run the system. Not only do government monopolies eliminate competition, they also simply suck incentive out of everything they touch.
One of the worst decisions made in recent decades has been state-sanctioned gambling in our state. And is this another boon-doggle that passed on party lines - how many Republicans voted for it versus how many libs/alt-left zealots/socialists voted against it?
But, just like socialized medicine, once the scheme is implemented, it's hard to take away 'benefits' from those on the take!
