2024 North Carolina Elections and Public Policy Poll

Opinion Diagnostics, a Boston and Raleigh-based polling and market research firm, conducted a poll of 902 likely North Carolina 2024 general election voters, as well as 408 likely North Carolina 2024 Republican presidential primary voters, from June 5-7.

 While both Trump and DeSantis are leading Biden in the 2024 general election in North Carolina, DeSantis has a stronger position than Trump. DeSantis leads 46%-40%, while Trump leads 43%-40%


 

 

 Lt. Governor Mark Robinson is in a strong position to win the 2024 GOP primary election for Governor, receiving 44% versus 7% for his next closest rival. However, 38% are still undecided

Robinson leads Josh Stein 41%-38% with 21% undecided or supporting an alternative candidate, indicating North Carolina is likely to have its third consecutive tightly contested gubernatorial general election

 

 Voters overwhelmingly support legislation that would legalize medical marijuana, by a 77%-17% margin

60% of voters support keeping the death penalty as a sentencing option for cases of first degree murder, as opposed to 26% who would abolish the death penalty

53% of voters support a proposal to eliminate state income taxes on overtime pay, compared with 23% who oppose this proposal

56% of voters believe that, in general, bonus pay should be tax free, while 29% believe bonus pay should continue to be taxed

66% of voters support a specific proposal to eliminate taxes on the first $2,500 of bonus pay earned by employees, while 18% oppose this proposal
